About Us
At Bentham, we are living and breathing human beings. We are about as far removed from corporate news outlets as you could possibly imagine. All of our contributors are entirely unpaid. We believe this affords us a high degree of editorial independence. We are not funded by major sponsors and we are not tied to any particular political persuasion. We also invite blog contributions from all sides of the political equator.
Many of our contributors are themselves recovered addicts. At Bentham, we do not require our contributors to hold advanced science degrees, however, the majority of our contributors have gained significant experience in the fields of drug science, treatment and addiction.
Our Mission
Our mission is to educate the public and professionals about the science of drugs and drug addiction. This includes offering information regarding the causes of drug addiction and the associated consequences. We also aim to offer information about addiction treatment. We cover the latest scientific revelations regarding drugs and drug addiction. We achieve this by monitoring the scientific journals dealing with this subject. This means Bentham is at the forefront of addiction research, and we aim to educate the public using simple and easy to understand language.
To achieve these aims, our team of volunteers contribute to our blog on a weekly basis. Typical topics we cover include: the causes of addiction, neuroscience, genetics, therapy, rehabilitation, long-term recovery and relapse.
Our aim is to ensure our readers are able to understand these topics that many deem too complex for comprehensive. We achieve this by ensuring all blog posts are written and then rewritten in easy to understand language. This approach means the drug science is no longer confined to those in academia.
