Bentham Open Membership

The benefits of being a member:

Bentham Open encourages individuals, academic research institutions and departments, corporations, funding bodies, and societies to become members of Bentham Open. Members of Bentham Open help to support the aims of open access scholarly publishing and receive great discounts off author’s publication fees in Bentham Open journals. Moreover, being a member reduces the administrative burden of the author/institution being invoiced each time a member’s article is published with Bentham Open.

Bentham Open offers two types of membership, Individual and Institutional membership.

Individual Membership:

  • Membership is exclusively for scientists and researchers who publish in Bentham Open journals.
  • Publication fees are deducted from the prepaid membership fee less the discount offered.
  • There are no hidden costs and no joining fee for Bentham Open.
  • Credit is carried over until it is used up by publication fees from year to year.
  • Bi-annually each member will receive a statement of their credit remaining with Bentham Open. This will also help authors to plan their publication schedule.
  • Membership fee is an advance of the publication fees which cannot be refunded and can only be redeemed on publication with Bentham Open.
  • There is a minimum membership fee of $ 1600, and the more that is prepaid the greater the discount will be off the publication fees. For example, a prepayment of US$ 2400 by a member who publishes two research articles over a ten month period will receive a 10% discount off the per research article publication fee of US$ 800. The total credit remaining to publish additional articles with Bentham Open will be US$ 960.

Institutional Membership:

  • Institutional Membership is for members of the institution/department/corporation/funding body/society who publish/want to publish in Bentham Open journals.
  • Publication fees are deducted from the prepaid membership fee less the discount offered.
  • There are no hidden costs and no joining fee to Bentham Open.
  • Credit is carried over until it is used up from year to year.
  • Bi-annually your institution will receive a statement of their credit remaining with Bentham Open. This will also help you institution to plan their member’s publication schedule.
  • Your institution’s membership fee is an advance on the publication fees which cannot be refunded and can only be redeemed on publication with Bentham Open.
  • There is a minimum membership fee of $ 2200 and the more your institution prepays the more discounts their members will receive off their publication fees. For example, your institution prepays as a member of Bentham Open the amount of US$ 4400. Members of your institution publish four research articles in the following ten month period. Your institution will therefore receive a 10% discount off each research article publication fee of US$ 800. There will be a total credit remaining to publish additional articles with Bentham Open of US$ 1520.
